He keeps saying these things like his Chaos personified, and yet we can see he's all about carefully laid plans, too - yet totally fine with improvising when he needs to. And he says it's no good to fear death yet he can be cautious and even cowardly in a way (but never to the point where it's a detriment to his ambition), and his game is for the very highest of stakes regardless of how many opponents he makes. The guy is full of contradictions. And he's a D, too!
Crocodile and Luffy - Mr. 3 was perhaps his most devoted Baroque Works agent; even after Crocodile had discarded him and sent Bon Clay to kill him, Mr 3 just wanted a chance to make it right again, rather than trying to run away or plot revenge. In return he was left for dead, and even now Crocodile still calls him useless trash.
Meanwhile, Luffy has absolutely no reason at all to regard Mr 3 kindly and would be fully justified to hold a grudge, but he's ready to see him as an Impel Down ally from the get-go and doesn't even mind when he bails (he can see he's fairly weak after all). This annoys and starts to bother Mr 3 and finally inspires him enough to take a stand and save... not the day, too many things happening in the day, but save the moment.
But it's neither of those that Mr 3 picks to follow once he's freed - he's lost his Crocodile illusions and knows he wouldn't fit with Luffy, so it's Buggy for him. Buggy, he can understand.
I have to agree with lego_joker, though, it is odd that Luffy now seems so easily impressed by titles like shichibukai when he never used to be.
Maybe he's making up for Nami and Usopp not being around.
In conclusion, Bon Clay is awesome and the best. ♥♥♥ ;__;
